Training is absolutely critical with respect to damage control and firefighting. Damage Control maintains a close relationship with Navy training commands and ensures all new gear is accompanied by detailed training materials. Below you will find information on Naval Training Commands and their Missions.

  • Surface Warfare Officers School Command (SWOS)
    Provides a continuum of professional education and training in support of Surface Navy requirements that prepares officers to serve at sea. Main courses include Department Head Course, Chief Engineers and Engineering Division courses, Officers C-ommand at Sea courses, Major Command and Prospective XO/CO Fleet-up Courses, Senior Officer Ship Material Readiness Course.

  • Afloat Training Organization (ATO)

ATG provides a dynamic, quality afloat training to Navy and Coast Guard Sailors to ensure a combat ready force capable of performing a broad spectrum of maritime missions.  Special emphasis is placed on training ships’ training teams, special evolution teams and watch teams to institutionalize the onboard capability to sustain and improve combat readiness throughout an employment cycle

CNE's Mission is to Develop, deploy, and improve Naval engineering training that supports Fleet Requirements,
Develop and use appropriate metrics that drive Learning Center Performance, Develop and improve technical, leadership and program management skills of our organization, Collaborate with partners and customers to optimize delivery of relevant up to date training, Establish and institutionalize consistent and effective communications with the Fleet and stakeholders that is responsive to feedback.

 

 

The mission of the Naval Service Training Command is to transform volunteers into Naval Service Professionals. We instill and reinforce enduring core values, knowledge, and skills to prepare them for the fleet.

Provide the most cost effective and safest instruction and training for the Navy, Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Reserve Components and Allied military personnel in order to achieve and maintain an optimum state of readiness for contingency, with emphasis on construction equipment operations and technical engineering; disaster preparedness and recovery operations; and chemical, biological, radiological defense.

Specially designed compartmentalized buildings and trainers that contain simulated equipment and other structures typically found on board Navy submarines. These structures (called fireplaces) are situated in areas where fires can be expected to occur. The fireplaces contain all the equipment necessary to generate fires that respond realistically and safely to trainee efforts to extinguish fire scenarios. Trainers also support Simulated ship damage consists of in flooding the training device engine room com-partment. Submarine type communication and alarm systems, Ban-dit-Kits, portable submersible pumps, and battle lanterns are used by the trainees to effectively react to the damage situa-tion. An upper level, above the engine room, provides a transi-tion environment and storage for submersible pump connections, and damage control equipment.
