Description

The firefighter’s boots are fabricated from black rubber with insulated soles and non-skid aggressive treads on the bottom to prevent firefighters from slipping on wet or oily decks. They have other safety features such as steel toes and shanks (puncture proof steel insoles), and some designs have shin guards. The boots have loop tabs to aid in pulling them on quickly. They come in knee high length (18 inches high) with sizes ranging from small, size 5, to x-large, size 15. Boot sizes are embossed on the back heel for rapid identification. The boots are worn by damage control repair party personnel, including the repair electricians and firefighting personnel, for protection of the feet in emergency evolutions. Twelve pairs are provided in the firefighting/access personnel kit and they weigh 6.5 to 6.9 pounds each.
